Private Glencoe, Oban, Inveraray & Loch Lomond Tour

Tour Duration: 10 hours (approx)

Journey West to Scotland’s Majestic Highlands and Argyll

Set off from Edinburgh and head west to the rugged beauty of Argyll, a region steeped in history and legend. Once the powerful domain of Clan Campbell, this storied landscape has remained remarkably unchanged for centuries. Wander through the charming whitewashed village of Inveraray, enjoy a private guided tour of the grand Inveraray Castle, and soak up the vibrant atmosphere of Oban, Scotland’s renowned seafood capital.

Along the way, be awed by the ever-changing scenery as we drive through the dramatic Highlands — from the serene waters of Loch Lomond and the wild beauty of Rannoch Moor to the haunting glens of Glencoe.

Travel in style and comfort aboard one of our premium Mercedes minivans, designed to navigate both the cobbled streets of Edinburgh and the winding backroads of the Highlands. Your personal kilted guide, rich with stories and local knowledge, ensures a flexible, tailored experience — allowing you to spend as much or as little time as you wish at each stop.

Highlights of Your Tour Include:

The Royal Route
Leaving Edinburgh, we travel the historic Royal Route, passing Linlithgow Palace — birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots — and The Kelpies, towering equine sculptures by artist Andy Scott. We descend into the fertile Carse of Stirling, with sweeping views of Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument.

Loch Lomond
At Scotland’s largest freshwater loch, we pause at the scenic village of Balmaha. From here, you can opt for a 30-minute boat trip across to the picturesque village of Luss, where your guide will be waiting to continue the adventure.

Kilchurn Castle
Perched at the head of Loch Awe, Kilchurn Castle offers a striking silhouette against its mountainous backdrop. One of the most iconic photo stops in Scotland, its crumbling walls tell tales of medieval battles and Highland life.

Inveraray Castle
Sitting proudly on the shores of Loch Fyne, Inveraray Castle is a masterpiece of Gothic Revival architecture. The ancestral seat of the Dukes of Argyll and Clan Campbell, it still houses the Campbell family today. Inside, marvel at antique-filled rooms, from the Grand Saloon to the armory, and hear the fascinating stories of clan history, royal visits, and fiery uprisings.

Film lovers may recognize Inveraray Castle as "Duneagle Castle" from the Downton Abbey Christmas Special.

Oban
Nicknamed the ‘Seafood Capital of Scotland’, Oban’s bustling harbor bustles with fishing boats and ferries. After some free time to explore, sample seafood, or simply take in the stunning views, we'll continue our coastal drive across Connel Bridge, stopping to admire Castle Stalker sitting proudly on its tidal islet.

Glencoe
Famed for its breathtaking mountain scenery and tragic history, Glencoe's dramatic landscape is both awe-inspiring and humbling. Hear the haunting tale of the 1692 Massacre of Glencoe as you gaze at the towering peaks surrounding the glen.

Rannoch Moor
Crossing the vast expanse of Rannoch Moor, we'll stop to admire one of Scotland’s last great wildernesses, where unique flora and fauna thrive amid the moody beauty of this remote area.

The Trossachs
Our final scenic stop is in the heart of the Trossachs, often called "the Highlands in miniature," with its misty lochs, rugged hills, and quaint villages. Learn about the real-life adventures of Rob Roy MacGregor, a local folk hero and outlaw.
